About Us

The mission of Finger Lakes Bioneers is to establish an ongoing conversation that transcends the barriers of geography, class, race and generation to co-create a shared future based upon sustainability and social justice.  Together we are offering the We Make Our Future conference as a regional venue for that conversation.
The Bioneers Conference (www.bioneers.org) is a leading-edge forum where you can see tomorrow today: a future environment of hope. Social and scientific innovators focus on breakthrough solutions inspired by nature and human ingenuity. These visionaries are already creating the healthy, diverse, equitable and beautiful world we want to live in—our legacy for future generations and the web of life on which our lives depend. Bioneer conferences are an opportunity where you can connect with hundreds or thousands of engaged folks making a real difference.
In recent years Beaming Bioneers Satellite Conference sites have inspired a potent ‘global-local’ approach toward solving local and regional problems by linking nationally renowned speakers with local topics and experts on the ground in cities throughout the country.  In 2008, more than 12,000 people attended the main Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, California and the 18 local Beaming Bioneers satellite conferences across the Nation.  This year Bioneers celebrates its 20th anniversary.  Finger Lakes Bioneers is proud to be beaming the conference via satellite as the first and only New York State site, engaging people in the widening conversation about our shared future.
Conference themes and events for We Make Our Future include green jobs and sustainable economy, clean energy, food systems and earth stewardship, social justice, youth leadership, the arts, health and well being, indigenous knowledge, green business expo, live music and much more.  The conference will be hosted at Ithaca College, with several events taking place in and around downtown through out the weekend.
Finger Lakes Bioneers is a cooperative effort of numerous organizations and individuals working together to create the conference (see our Partners page for details).  Sustainable Tompkins is serving as the lead organizer and host of the conference.
